Today was really the baby-sitting day. Shirley had church at noon as well as some shopping to do afterwards. I watched all three girls and tried to keep my sanity. I pretty much hid in the basement working on the web pages and archiving some stuff. Once she got back though I was heading back to CCVS. I had to get gas to fill up from the trip yesterday so I decided that his was was not a bad idea. I filled up at the CITGO on Berlin Cross Keys Road at the village of Albion then at the last minute I decided to visit the Park across from the Berlin Farmers Market. It was such a nice day. Lots of folks were out at the park. The Roller Hockey rink was doing a brisk business and lots of tots in the play ground. I wanted to try our the inner lagoon and see if there was anything to be found there. The wind was definitely a factor today!
After a few dispirited casts I gave in and headed back over to CCVS. I parked in the visitor spot and went over to the pond. The wind was howling by now. I was fighting just to keep my hat on! The way the wind was blowing I could not cast normally as the wind would have blown the fly right towards me on the cast and the haul. So I faced opposite the pond putting the rod and line on the leeward position to the wind. I cast like so and instead of releasing on the forward cast I released on the back section of the haul. Pretty much like casting in reverse. This seemed to work well. I really had to punch it hard though to get through the wind.
At quitting time (4:45pm) I had landed about eight Blue Gills (including some very nice sized ones!) and I packed it in.
This was a VERY good weekend. Now to get ready for the coming week (which is going to be a doozie!).

I managed to get out of work a little early today and decided to head out to my local haunts to see what I could catch. Nice to see the Ice all melted and the fish rising! For today I headed over to Camden County Vocational School on Berlin Cross Keys Road. They have a very large pond at the front that usually has a big water fountain that runs. It's still early and they have not switched it on yet. I was just looking to play with a few blue gills and stretch the casting arm.
I managed to catch a brace of Blue Gills today as well as three crappies! Not a bad afternoon! Can't wait to get some more of that!
